For commemorating Dr. Sun Mr. Sun Yat-sen 100th birthday anniversary, government entrust Mrs. Hsiou Tze-lan to program and build the architect (Chung Shan Hall on Yamingshan). The construction was completed on Nov. 6, 1966 and located in beautiful Yanmingshan National Park, Taiwan. Chung Shan Hall is encircled by mountains and leans over mountains and stretches according to the lie of mountains. The Hall’s appearance is grandeur and beautiful, coincidently combining with surrounded landscape view. And the interior decorations of the Hall are graceful, delicate and majestic, which could show the honorable-like of national palace. So Chung Shan Hall becomes the famous country landmark, also the motif on the back of 100 hundred NT dollars which is the most popular bill in Taiwan.
　 Chung Shall Hall had been a site offering National Assembly conference, an important place for president receipting honor guests, and for holding national banquet. Up to now, the Hall still completely preserve many witnesses on constitutional development and relevant modern history events. It’s a very precious national cultural property with historic significance.
　For introducing Chung Shan Hall in detail, 1998 we invited architect Mrs. Hsiou, Tze-lan as an advisor, Mr. Dung Ming as a photographer, and mobilizes the editor team of the whole Memorial Hall to publish ”The Beauty of Chung Shan Hall”. Up to present, the volume have already published 8 visions and popularized by foreign guests. The newest vision has little revised and increases the foreword of Liou Tai-si’s poem “Praise for Chung Shan Hall” whose article is generous and meaningful and whose calligraphy is bold and vigorous. Hope offer this precious artwork for readers’ collection.
　When assumed the position of Director-general in National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, I positively devoted to open Chung Shan Hall to the people for democratic currency and sharing national culture property to the public. Now Chung Shan Hall obviously increases the rate of renting time and increases the number of visitors. When reading “The Beauty of Chung Shan Hall”, you will feel like visiting the Hall, if having chance, please personally visit Chung Shan Hall to appreciate this famous cultural treasure.

Ode to the Chung Shan Hall

| Lo, how splendid and magnificent this building is! No other architecture is its peer in gorgeousness. Perching on the mountain, the Hall stands beside the sun, that it's home of clouds and challenge to the sky. It bear the great tradition of China, And represents our national art. Here gathers the charm and aura of Formosa, And here one outlooks the beautiful scenery of the island's northern shore. Where vast ocean and long river meet and play. In fact this marvelous towering Building has revitalized the world. For it keeps the Seasons to rotate normally, and helps the Eight Scenes of Tamsui to spread their mystic spell. Trees here are also luxuriant. They grow no less leaves to show perseverance toward the chilly winter. And flowers bloom so luxuriantly in spring that they form a broidered carpet. By the Building there is a fragrant garden, where birds welcome the tourists with their sweet songs. And below the Building, merry clouds sojourn in the valleys and dream their rosy dreams. Walking through the hidden paths, you can hear the sparkling music of Nature as if you could scoop it up in hands. And when you discover the secret stream, don't forget to listen to its jingling sound over the pebbles. Paradise as it is, the Building is obscured by fog and dust brought by limousines from everywhere. At that time, lights were burning day and night; they witnessed our Statesmen racking their brains for political strategies. Sometimes those big heads did quarrel and bawl, intimidating the heaven, which dared not cry. Alas! When they turned out to observe the law, every creature behaved itself and all Element function well. Thank God. They were great citizens, never-fading model for us all. History will remember them for giving birth to our Constitution and declaring the nation's beliefs. They did bring to Taiwan's a prosperous economy, while they gave no chance for the Communists to start war in the Strait. It was also they that promoted Democracy, pioneering for all Chinese. How marvelous was this achievement, leaving Communist China far behind. The soaring economic growth of Taiwan had gained such a worldwide reputation That it was recognized as a miracle of no precedence. Look! How ‘gracefully' constructed the Assembly Hall is! I am overwhelmed with admiration for those passionate wise politicians With all their excellent debates upon the state policies. And their outspoken and patriotic speeches. Let us learn their statesmanship respectfully. And their efficiency and proficiency of legislation. I have decided to follow those giants' footsteps. It's true! And now I am going to try my best as a Poet, as the Muses are surging in my breast. No tourist, including me, visits the building but get fascinated in the great scenery and reluctant to leave. In the morning, I take a bath in the colorful clouds that stretch in the sky for thousands of miles. What a luxury! During the night, I count the stars of the Milky Way and invite the Moon to get drunk with me. Am I dreaming? I have comprehended fully the holy beauty of this wonderful, And that would I transform into my brilliant poems and panoramic paintings. I explore the vicissitudes of the Building and fall into trance. And feel like dancing and flying with the gentle wind. Tonight, I am inebriated and ecstatic to sing and chant. Don't say I am pompous. Nature and I have just become One When I lean over the rails of the night balcony and discover the whole secret of the Mystic constellation. It was in such happiness that I finished composing this stupid poem in one breath. |
