To implement the idea of providing uninterrupted performing arts services during the closure, the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall under the Ministry of Culture plans to cooperate with the distinctive student clubs of 15 junior high and elementary schools in Taipei City, moving indoor performances to outdoor venues and holding 22 outdoor concerts throughout the year. The opening ceremony was held by the lakeside of Lake Tswei this afternoon (Feb. 16).

Established in 1992 and composed of students from the third to sixth grade, the Minquan Elementary School Wind Orchestra was invited to give the first performance. Since its establishment, the orchestra has won first place for many times in the Taipei City Wind Ensemble Competition and represented Taipei City in the finals of the National Student Music Competition, earning High Distinction Awards and Excellence Awards. It has been the only elementary school invited to participate in “Taipei City Marching Band, Honor Guards, and Color Guards Performance” for thirteen consecutive years. Today, the series activities kicked off with the powerful music of “It’s a Small World,” “Hakka Essence,” “Team Taiwan Chance Song,” and “The Magnificent Seven.” Their excellent performance received enthusiastic applause from the audience.
Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall stated that, as an art and cultural platform loved by all, the hall offers many high-quality exhibitions and performances. Due to the temporary closure during the Auditorium and Surrounding Facilities Upgrade Project, Chungshan Park has been transformed into a venue for music performances by combining community resources and schools. The Minquan Elementary School Wind Orchestra took the lead today. Student bands will perform every month until December 27. The Lake Tswei Youth Outdoor Concert provides not only a platform for young students to show their diverse talents but also activities for family members of all ages. We invite the public to participate in the concerts at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall throughout the year.
