Commemorative Events for the 160th Birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen — Showcasing Diversity

In celebration of the 160th birthday of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall launched a series of cultural, academic, and artistic events under the theme “Universal Love · Practice · Shared Good.” These activities extended from the Hall into the surrounding park and campuses, including exhibitions, symposiums, markets, and educational programs. The “Strolling Market,” held November 8–9, and the “Warm Hands, Smiling Market,” held November 14–16, featured youth creativity, cultural lifestyle, and social engagement through performances and cultural experiences.

On November 12, a tribute ceremony at the “Sun Yat-sen Stele Forest” in the park was followed by two online exhibitions: “Unlocking the Treasures of the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall: Sun Yat-sen and His Friends” and “Sun Yat-sen in Taiwan Newspapers,” launched on Open Museum and the National Cultural Memory Database platforms. The “Inheritance, Innovation, and Promotion” academic symposium and the “Sun Yat-sen Historical Sites and ROC History” tour further explored the evolution of Sunology.

Issue 39 of Sunology Studies also released a special edition dedicated to the 160th birthday. On November 25, the Memorial Hall and Tzu Chi University will co-host the “6th Symposium on the Practice of Universalism and Great Love,” featuring scholars discussing Sunology, humanitarianism, and education. On the same day, the Foreign Students Mandarin Speech Contest will take place at the Taiwan Traditional Theatre Center, featuring 60 contestants from 16 countries and 20 universities. This year's theme, “Understanding and Empathy,” includes five thought-provoking topics exploring Taiwanese culture, AI, communication styles, and personal reflection.

The Memorial Hall hopes that exhibitions, markets, symposiums, and cultural activities will continue to promote Sunology in diverse ways, allowing the spirit of “universal love” and “the world for all” to shine in the modern era.
