“2026 Sun Yat-sen Youth Art Award” Scheduled to Accept Applications from July 28 to August 1

The annual open call for the 2026 Sun Yat-sen Youth Art Award, organized by the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall under the Ministry of Culture, has officially been announced. The competition guidelines and application details are now available on the Memorial Hall’s official website and Facebook fan page.

Now entering its 11th edition, the Sun Yat-sen Youth Art Award continues its mission to encourage artistic creation and professional development among young artists aged 20 to 45, serving as an im-portant platform for contemporary art.

The competition is divided into three categories—ink painting, calligraphy, and oil painting. Following a two-stage evaluation process consisting of preliminary and final reviews, award recipients will be selected.

Winners of the First Prize will each receive a cash award of NTD 300,000 along with a trophy, and will also be granted the opportunity to apply for a solo exhibition at the National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall without undergoing further review.

In each category, one Second Prize and one Third Prize winner will be selected, receiving NTD 100,000 and NTD 50,000 respectively. Additionally, five Honorable Mention awards per category will be granted, each with a prize of NTD 10,000, and five Selected Awards per category will be awarded NTD 5,000 each.

The total prize money amounts to NTD 1,575,000.

As society evolves, emerging artists continue to demonstrate vibrant creative energy and increasing di-versity in artistic concepts, enriching expressions across artistic disciplines and values. The number of submissions has steadily increased over the years, reflecting the growing influence and active participa-tion of the award, which has become a fertile ground for Taiwan’s arts and cultural development.

Award-winning works will be showcased at an exhibition hosted by the Taipei City Arts Promotion Office, where the award ceremony will also be held. A touring exhibition is scheduled for the following year (2027), with planned stops in Kinmen and Hualien, further expanding audience reach and opportunities for artistic exchange.

To further support young artists in developing their creative careers, the Memorial Hall continues its col-laboration with the Taiwan Association of Galleries to recommend Sun Yat-sen Youth Art Award winners for participation in art fairs, helping them gain exposure within the professional art exhibition circuit.

Upon completion of the Memorial Hall’s renovation, award recipients will also be eligible to hold solo ex-hibitions at the venue without review and free of charge. Through these comprehensive support measures, the Sun Yat-sen Youth Art Award aims to establish itself as one of Taiwan’s most prestig-ious and influential awards for emerging artists.
