National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Anniversary Three Wishes for Epidemic Prevention

With the zero new domestic cases of COVID-19 for one month, by responding to the epidemic prevention new life movement, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall celebrated the 48th anniversary featuring “National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall 48, Happy SPA.”

Due to the outbreak of COVID-19, the original celebration plan of inviting the public to the series activities of water and health including circling around in the shape of “48,” which sounds like “SPA” in Chinese was cancelled. The celebration was simplified into giving the peach-shaped buns to the staff to express gratitude for their hard work. At the same time, the jigsaw puzzle of the famous oil painter Wu Long-rong’s work “Beauty of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall” was made. Director-general Liang Yung-fei put the last piece of the whole picture into place, which symbolizes that the public join hands in the epidemic prevention work in the post-epidemic period and piece together the happy life together. He also expressed three thanks and three wishes to the colleagues to pray for the end of the epidemic, show the best administrative performance, and build the better quality of the hall.

In terms of the three thanks, the first is to the architect Wang Da-hong, former director-generals and supervisors, responsible and devoting colleagues, volunteers, and honor guards, artists and performing groups at home and abroad holding exhibitions and giving performances, and the foreign and domestic visitors to the hall in the past 48 years since the hall was opened on May 16, 1972. Everyone has made the history of the hall together and laid the solid foundation, and it is also expected that the hall will have the prosperous future. The second thank is to the frontline medical staff for their devotion during the outbreak of coronavirus disease. They have guarded the safety of ROC and receive affirmation from the world. At the same time, the gratitude is also to the colleagues and volunteers of the hall for their endeavor during the epidemic outbreak. The third thank is to the colleagues for carefully planning the anniversary celebration, “National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hal 48, Happy SPA.” As for the three wishes, the first wish is the end of the outbreak so that the normal daily life and world order will return as soon as possible. We should exert the spirit of “fraternity” together to benefit the society so that the world, the country, the family, and every one of us will feel safe and happy. The second wish is to build National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall into the first-class hall with the five concepts of “profession, friendliness, energy, innovation, and heritage” to serve the units from the art and cultural industry, performing arts industry, entertainment industry, and non-profit organizations and the friends at home and abroad. The third wish is to speed up the hall’s operation of the interdisciplinary value-added project. The construction of the hall has been used for 48 years. The society holds high expectations, so we need to build the better service environment through the project. I’d like to express the gratitude to Minister of Culture, Zheng Li-jun, for her full support. The increase of the project budget has been approved at the end of last year so that the hall will have more resources to compete the maintenance at one time.

To meet the public need and the exam season, the hall has opened Study Room, Newspaper Reading Area, and Sun Yat-sen Library on May 7. We also respond to the epidemic prevention new life movement promoted by CECC and encourage the public to return to the normal daily life by following the epidemic prevention guidelines. Welcome to visit National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Chungshan Park, “the happy mark of the eastern district of Taipei.”
