This year is the 110th anniversary of the foundation of the Republic of China, also the 110th anniversary of Xinhai Revolution. At 9:30AM today (October 10), “When the Great Way Prevails-The 110th Anniversary of Xinhai Revolution Conference” with the significant meaning was grandly held at Chungshan Lecture Hall, co-organized by National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Sun Yat Sen Academic and Cultural Foundation. The new book release and the award-giving ceremony of the 56th Sun Yat Sen Academic Publication Award were also held. Many scholars, experts, award winners, and their family members all attended in person and brought more liveliness to the academic event.
Director-general of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Wang Lan-sheng, said today is the 110th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s success in Xinhai Revolution and the foundation of the Republic of China. Revolution is to remove the old and greet the new. Through this conference, we will explore the importance of Xinhai Revolution in the foundation of the Republic of China on the one hand and analyze and discuss the present situation of cross-strait competition on the other hand. It is deeply meaningful to look back on the past and stay inspired for the future.
On behalf of Sun Yat Sen Academic and Cultural Foundation, vice chairman Lin Chen-kuo pointed out the thought of Dr. Sun Yat-sen is the timeless treasure and foundation of the Republic of China. He made an appeal that people at home and abroad should pass on and promote Sun Yat-sen’s thought together with the mission to revive the Chinese spirit and make Sun Yat-sen’s thought the prominent learning of the time again. Besides, to encourage and cultivate the youth to engage in the studies of Sun Yat-sen’s thought, the foundation has also decided to start to award Sun Yat Sen Youth Scholarship next year besides continuing to give Sun Yat Sen Academic Publication Award.
The conference specially invites the distinguished research fellow of Institute of Modern History, Academia Sinica, Prof. Huang Ko-wu, to talk about “The Historical Meaning of Xinhai Revolution.” There are also two paper presentations with the topics “Xinhai Revolution and Foundation of the Republic of China” and “Revolution Strategies and Cross-strait Competition,” presenting eight papers in total. It is expected that through the discussion of the issues, the public will be acquainted with the historical meaning and value of Xinhai Revolution again, including the spirit of Xinhai Revolution, the hardship of building a state, and Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s concept of founding a state. More important is to focus on the fact, meaning, and value of the existence of the Republic of China.
