National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall 51st Anniversary Celebration Ceremony: “Let’s Get Together” Celebrates the Cultural Charm over Half Century

For the 51st anniversary, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall of Ministry of Culture invites the public to celebrate the over-half-century glorious years of the hall. Today (May 16) the celebration ceremony and the check-in gift-giving activity were held. Principal Lai Jun-xian of Taipei Municipal Guangfu Elementary School, Director Liao Chiu-fen of Taipei City Yangming Home for the Disabled, Chairman of Everlight Cultural Foundation/vocalist Jian Wen-xiu, Adjunct Prof. Lin Lung-da of Department of Painting and Calligraphy Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts, Vice Chairman Chen Jia-zi of Chinese Calligraphy Society, Prof. Hung Chuan-hu of Department of Social and Policy Sciences, Yuan Zi University, calligrapher Chen Kun-i, Consultant Chung You-hui of Taiwan Society of Printmaking, Chief Wu Ying-chun of Student Affairs Office, Taipei Municipal Donghu Elementary School, Xinglong Village Chief Giwas Gigo, Zhengsheng Village Chief Chen Xiu-ln, and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony.

     Adhering to the concept of multicultural equality and the heritage of fraternity promoted by National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, the celebration ceremony features “Let’s Get Together,” specially inviting the “Indonesian new immigrant singer, Ying Ying, and Gema Angklung” to perform “Bengawan Solo,” the Indonesian song which has been adapted into the Mandarin and Taiwanese version, with the traditional Indonesian musical instrument, Angklung. They also gave the best wishes through the Mandarin hit, “Grateful Heart.” “Donghu Elementary School Lion Dance Troupe,” which has won all levels of lion dance competitions for many times, showed the brisk, mischievous, mighty, and dexterous movements of the Taiwanese northern open-mouth lions and presented the fun and lively congratulatory words, “Rejoice over the Prosperous Future.” Ms. Jian Wen-xiu further added more splendor to the event through her beautiful singing of “See the Chimney Smoke Again” and “Amazing Grace.”

     In his speech, Director-general Wang Lan-sheng said that Dr. Sun Yat-sen is a kind and humble person with lofty ideals. This is the spirit National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall upholds in serving the public. The landscape renovation project currently underway places high importance on construction quality and public safety. During this period, the hall never slacks in serving the visitors and expects to greet this year’s Golden Bell Awards and Golden Horse Awards with better facilities. The hall will also actively organize activities with the local villagers and officially greet the new opening of Chungshan Cultural Park. The 51st anniversary means the start of a new journey. The hall expects to inherit the rich history, embrace the future of cultural foresight, keep up with technology, constantly update the hardware, and integrate it with the software at the same time to keep up with the times.

     In the warm music played by the volunteers at the celebration ceremony, Director-general Wang Lan-sheng and Deputy Director-general Yang Tong-hui unveiled the peach-shaped bun tower and gave the buns to the visitors as the symbol of sharing hopes and best wishes. “The check-in gift-giving activity” was also held in the morning of the day so that the visitors could share joy through photos on social media.

     National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall organized series activities of the 51st anniversary from May 6 to 24, including “2023 Dance of Colors-Chinese Floral Art Exhibition,” the keynote speech “National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Taiwanese Contemporary Architecture,” “National Development and National Security Academic Conference,” and “Interactive Exhibition-Look! That Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall!” The interdisciplinary and diverse contents are colorful and interesting. Welcome everyone to participate.
