“2023 Traveling Exhibition of Excellent Tainan Artists” Shows the Diversity of Tainan Art

     “The 8th Traveling Exhibition of Excellent Tainan Artists: Fresh Breeze←→Suspense —A Dialogue Between Ink Wash and Pottery, A Duo Exhibition by Lin Wen-yueh & Yang Hui-hua” grandly opens at Wen-hua Gallery of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Ministry of Culture, today (June 17). The exhibi-tion is co-organized by National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau and curated by Honorary Prof. Hsiao Chong-ray of the Institute of Art Studies, National Cheng Kung University. With the title of “Fresh Breeze←→Suspense,” he presents the 65 ink wash works and 41 pottery works of Lin Wen-yueh and Yang Hui-hua, the two artists of the same generation but the different styles exceling in both ink wash and pottery, through the four subjects, “Lotus Charm, Passerby,” “Blooming Flower, Whisper,” “Se-clusion, Mountain Dwelling,” and “World, Folk.”

     Deputy Director-general Yang Tong-hui of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memo-rial Hall said the hall and Tainan City Government have long-term close interac-tions and promote art and cultural events together. “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” was held at Tainan Municipal Xinying Cultural Center in March this year. This time, Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau sends the splendid works of the outstanding artists in southern Taiwan, Lin Wen-yueh and Yang Hui-hua, to northern Taiwan and displays their works jointly through the theme of “Fresh Breeze, Suspense.” Welcome more outstand-ing Tainan artists to exhibit their works at the hall in the future so that the art lovers will enjoy the beauty of Tainan art at a close distance. She sincerely wel-comes the fellows of the art world to appreciate the works. Deputy Director-general Chen Hsiu-cheng of Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau said Lin Wen-yueh comes from Baihe District, the lotus town, and has painted more than hundred thousand lotuses so far. His ink wash works famous for lo-tuses feature the barren and freehand style. His pottery makes good use of the lo-cal lotus seed pods and Guanziling hot spring mud to develop the glaze colors of “Baihe white” and “Guanling green.” Yang Hui-hua was born in Danei District of Tainan City. After the experiences of work and family, she fully dedicates herself to art creation. Her works are with exquisiteness and tenacity. She started her ca-reer late, but her works won the instant success and recognition of the major awards such as “Nanying Award” and “Tainan Fine Arts Association Award.”

     There were many distinguished guests at the scene of the traveling exhibition, including Deputy Director-general Yang Tong-hui and Deputy Director-general Chen Hsiu-cheng of Tainan City Government Cultural Affairs Bureau. The open-ing ceremony also invited Prof. Su Feng-nan of Department of Painting and Cal-ligraphy Arts, National Taiwan University of Arts, and Prof. Lee Yuan-cheng of Department of Fine Arts, Chang Jung Christian University, to join in the art fo-rum together with Hsiao Chong-ray, the curator and Honorary Professor of the Institute of Art Studies, National Cheng Kung University, and the two artists, Lin Wen-yueh and Yang Hui-hua, so that the visitors would better understand the creative forms and contents conveyed by the artists.

     “The 8th Traveling Exhibition of Excellent Tainan Artists: Fresh Breeze←→Suspense —A Dialogue Between Ink Wash and Pottery, A Duo Exhibition by Lin Wen-yueh & Yang Hui-hua” will be held at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memo-rial Hall from today to June 29. It will travel to Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center after July 22. Welcome everyone to grasp the opportunity and visit the exhibition.
