“Yung Ting-hwa 90-year-old Photo Solo Exhibition” Shows the Charming Eternal Moment

“Charming Eternal Moment—Yung Ting-hwa 90-year-old Photo Solo Exhibition” will be grandly held at Bo-ai Gallery of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall of Ministry of Culture from today to September 26. The opening ceremony was held in the morning today (Sep 2). The distinguished guests including President Jim Tai of IPE Universal Inc., NCPI Convenor Tsai Chao-yi, Director Chan Su-chen of Taipei City Archives, famous photography artist Mr. Chuang Ling, and former Dean Kang Tai-sheng of College of Arts of Fu Jen Catholic University attended the ceremony.

Yung Ting-hwa was born in Keelung. He has recorded tens of thousands of images of the beauty, culture, life, and environmental changes of his hometown with the camera for years. He passionately pays attention to interpersonal relationships and landscape changes and preserves the passage of time through the documentary essence of photography. Since 1960, he has engaged in the creation of photography and witnessed the process from black and white images, color photography, digital images, to AI. As the trends and styles of photography keep evolving and innovating, he has long followed the principle that “The only constant is change,” seeking new ideas from old themes and striving for creativity in works to establish the personal aesthetic style.

Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall quoted Master Sheng Yen’s “seize the moment” to interpret photography art. Photography is the ultimate way to seize and interpret the moment. Mr. Yung used to say, “Good photography does not entirely rely on a good camera.” Besides the photography skills, there should be the expression of personal mind. The subjects of this exhibition include the development of cities and towns, natural scenery, commercial photography, and city buildings. Mr. Yung’s unique photography art can be read from each category. It’s a splendid and informative photography exhibition fully showing Mr. Yung’s photography skills in the past sixty years.

The artist Yung Ting-hwa said this is his 20th photography solo exhibition. National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall has fully fulfilled his wish through the complete display of the various 200 works. At the same time, Mr. Yung also explained that his photography ranges from concreteness, imagery, to abstraction. Besides the emphasis on the promotion of local culture, he will also follow the spirit of lifelong learning advocated by the UNESCO to keep learning and releasing new works.

“Charming Eternal Moment—Yung Ting-hwa 90-year-old Photo Solo Exhibition” will display 200 splendid works at Bo-ai Gallery and Culture Corridors 1F of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from August 30 to September 26.
