National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall of Ministry of Culture and Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County jointly organize “2023 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” at Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County. A total of 32 winning works from the three groups, ink painting, calligraphy, and oil painting, are exhibited. The opening ceremony was held today (Jan. 9). Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Director-general Lu Kun-ho of Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County, Deputy Director-general Chen Ko-hsing, Director He Gui-quan of Kinmen Ceramics Factory, Chairman Yang Yung-fu of The Oil Painting Association of R.O.C., and other distinguished guests attended the ceremony.
Director-general Lu Kun-ho of Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County, on behalf of Magistrate Chen Fu-hai, welcomed the works of the outstanding young artists brought by National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. As an artist, Director-general Lu held his solo ink painting exhibitions at the hall for three times. He expressed special gratitude to the hall for assistance. Kinmen has profound cultural heritage and long history. He hoped to maintain close interaction and cooperation with the hall in the future.
Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall said the hall had had close interaction and many art exchanges with Kinmen County in the past year. The hall also developed the cultural and creative products by cooperating with Kinmen Ceramics Factory and held “Kinmen Ceramic Factory 60th Anniversary Special Exhibition.” This time, Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County is the first stop of “2023 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition.” He looked forward to more exchanges with Kinmen County in the future.
Chairman Yang Yung-fu of The Oil Painting Association of R.O.C. said National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall holds Chungshan Youth Art Awards to encourage young artists to engage in creation and provide them with complete assistance. Besides competition prizes, the traveling exhibitions are held in different places to introduce them to the public. Through the cooperation with The Oil Painting Association of R.O.C., the hall also assists the winners to join the Art Expo with financial support.
The competition of “Chungshan Youth Art Awards” encourages the creative development of the young artists aged from 20 to 45. The works are divided into three groups: ink painting, calligraphy, and oil painting. The 37 winners are selected after the preliminary and secondary reviews, including 13 works of ink painting, 12 works of calligraphy, and 12 works of oil painting. The three Chungshan Award winners in 2023 are Zeng Ting-yu of the ink painting group, Ye Zong-he of the calligraphy group, and Liao Min-ru of the oil painting group. Each winner will be given NT$300,000 and one trophy. The second place and third place of each group will respectively win NT$100,000 and NT$50,000. Besides, each group has 5 honorable mention award winners, and each of them is given NT$10,000. Each winner of the judges’ award will win NT$5,000. Culture needs new life and new blood. To encourage the young generation to engage in art creation, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall adheres to the important mission since establishment and continues to hold Chungshan Youth Art Award.
“2023 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” will be grandly held at Exhibition Room 1, 2, and 3 of Cultural Affairs Bureau of Kinmen County from January 6 to 24, 2024.
