Fly with Art, Turn Over Life The 5th Andrew Charity Association Academic Competition Winners’ Works Exhibition Debut at National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall

National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Andrew Charity Association co-organizes the charity exhibition “Children’s Art World” at Wen-hua Gallery and Culture Corridors on the second floor from December 11 to January 4 of next year (2021). The opening and award-giving ceremony was held at Wen-hua Gallery of the hall at 4PM today (December 12). Andrew Charity Association has assisted the children under 15 from the disadvantaged families in Taiwan for long and at the same time guided them towards adaptive development. Through “Eagle Project,” the care, company, and all kinds of growing activities in accordance with their age and character will help them change and turn over life.

To increase the reading, writing, and painting interest and ability of the children from the disadvantaged families and remote townships, the academic competition has been held since 2016 to help children exert their potential and accomplish their dreams and goals. This year, there are 2,445 participating works in total. In the painting group, there are 76 winners for the high distinction awards, merit awards, and honorable mention awards. In the composition group, there are 47 winners for the high distinction awards, merit awards, and honorable mention awards. The judge of the painting group, Zheng Shen-zhi, said the abundant life energy can be seen through these creative works which fully show the inner world and imagination. The judge of the composition group, Lu Zhao-long, said the students share their life experience in their articles, which made the judging process the delightful mental journey.

Former president Ma Ying-jeou specially attended the ceremony. In his speech, besides encouraging the winners, he also said that the exhibited painting works were created with the sophisticated skills and that the winning works of composition were astonishing. It is not easy for a seventeen-year-old teenager to imagine his future in the article. Andrew Charity Association has organized the academic competition for five consecutive years. He felt lucky and honored to give the awards this time. Besides calling for the social public to show love and care, he also gave his blessings to the winners that they will have confidence in themselves and create the more beautiful and advanced future.

In his speech, Director-general of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall Wang Lan-sheng said Andrew Charity Association provides the proper resources for the talented children to explore their potential when they are faced with their tests in the early stage of life as if giving them the fields to cultivate so that the children will take roots. This is the practice of Hexagram 3, Zhun, in Yi Jing (Book of Changes): “Never lose yourself in early difficulties.” The winners’ articles and paintings are the beautiful presentations worth careful appreciation and promotion. It’s National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall’s honor to participate in this activity supporting children and assisting them in fulfilling their dreams.

The founder of the association Wei Ti-xiang pointed out that it is precious and important to give children a blue sky, inspire their mind, and support their prospect. Every painting work and article is a child’s life story. Through the creative process of these works, we will walk into their mental world. It is expected that Andrew Charity Association Academic Competition will find more outstanding and potential children.

The winners’ works will be exhibited at Wen-hua Gallery on the second floor of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. We sincerely invite the art lovers to visit and appreciate the works.
