On behalf of Political Deputy Minister of Ministry of Culture, Xiao Zong-huang, Deputy Director-general of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Yang Tong-hui, congratulated Prof. Wang Hsiu-chi and Ms. Tsao Chin-hsia. Prof. Wang has engaged in the creation of sculpture art for long, and his wife Ms. Tsao Chin-hsia focuses on the creation of flower art. Prof. Wang’s sculpture works can often be seen in the public space all over Taiwan. Besides, his works can also be found in the park of the hall. It is the first time for Prof. Wang to exhibit a series of new works for the year of the ox, and his wife’s works of flower art adds more beauty to the exhibition.
Prof. Wang Hsiu-Chi said the exhibition is the first time and a precious experience for him to exhibit the works together with his wife, Ms. Tsao Chin-Hsia. His creative inspiration comes from his adoration and love for two historical figures. One is Guan Yu, whose spirit of justice and righteousness is what the society needs. The other is Su Shi, whose graceful poems with elegance and nobility affect his creation imperceptibly. It is the year of the ox, and both of the artists were born in the year of the ox. Therefore, he makes “ox” his creative topic.
Prof. Wang has showed concern for local life and folk culture for long. Most of his works feature figures and life scenes. His integration of personal experience into the works brings the warm and friendly feelings to the viewers. The Guan Yu works and the first exhibited new series of the year of the ox are included this time. There are more than 40 sculptures. At the same time, there are 15 works of Ms. Tsao Chin-Hsia’s Zen flower art.
