“Light the Lanterns and Pray for Blessings in the Year of Ox”Chinese New Year Lanterns Exhibition Enhances Epidemic Prevention Propaganda

   National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall greets the coming of the Year of Ox and passes down the culture of Lantern Festival. At the same time, the hall enhances the epidemic prevention propaganda as COVID-19 resurges. At 5 PM today (February 28), the lighting ceremony of the Chinese New Year Lanterns Exhibition, “Light the Lanterns and Pray for Blessings in the Year of Ox,” was held. Director-general Wang Lan-sheng led Deputy Director and other chiefs to light the lantern together. According to the rules of Taiwan Centers for Disease Control, the hall has enhanced the propaganda to the public: be sure to “wash hands frequently, wear masks, take temperature, and keep social distancing.” Let’s take the epidemic preventive measures well.

   Director-general of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall said under the influence of COVID-19 in 2020, people’s life and economy around the world have been impacted. Taiwan’s achivemenet in epidemic prevention has been approved worldwide. However, the variants of the virus and the changes of the environment have led to the redurgence of COVID-19. National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall organizes the Chinese New Year Lanterns Exhibition, “Light the Lanterns and Pray for Blessings in the Year of Ox,” to enhance the epidemic prevention propaganda. Besides writing the spring couplet in person, “Xin Jin Sheng Shi Chu Xin Guan, Chou Tu Chun Rong Ying Hao Nian (Defeat COVID-19 and greet the prosperity in the good year of 2021)”  to wish everyone a happy new year and peace and harmony for the whole family. He also expected the public to take the preventive measures well together and to build a healthy and safe environment, lighting the lantern and praying for blessings and an end to COVID-19 as soon as possible so that our country will be prosperous and safe.

   To hold the lanterns exhibition this time, the hall specially invites the craftsman, Huang Min-fang, who made the large-character lantern series of Master Hsing Yun of Fo Huang Shan, “Hua Kai Si Ji Geng Yun Xin Tian (Flowers bloossom in four seasons, cultivate the heart), to make tha main lantern, “Niu Zhuan Qian Kun (Turn around the Heaven and Earth).” Together with the 110 lanterns painted and made by 110 artists, it is hung at the corridor of the main entrance of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall. In the past year, the world was devastated by the virus of COVID-19, which has caused numerous losses of life and property. It is hoped that as the Year of Ox comes in 2021, the power of “turning around the Heaven and Earth” will make the virus disappear and revitalize the world economy. This year, the love light serves as the lighter to symbolize that the new year will start with “love.” Let “love” shine as we join hands and work together for the beautiful life in the future. At the same time, the landscape renovation prospect lanterns of the hall will also be lighted to expect the construction to highlight the special park landscape, the historic building characteristics, and the art and cultural memorial image of the hall.

   National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall will hang the lanterns around the corridors from Today to Match 7. As the colorful lanterns are displayed, let’s greet the new year full of joy and happiness. It is not only a good place for the citizens to visit during Chinese New Year but also provides a different epidemic prevention experience for the visitors.
