National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” First Stop at Tainan Municipal Xinying Cultural Center

National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government jointly organize “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” at Tainan Municipal Xinying Cultural Center. The opening ceremony was held in the morning today (March 3). There are 40 works from the three groups: ink painting, calligraphy, and oil painting. The distinguished guests including Senior Executive Officer Huang Hung-wen of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government, Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, Mr. Chen Wen-lung, the jury representative of Chungshan Youth Art Awards, Director Wu Chen-hui of La Champs Art Gallery, Lin Chin-li, Secretary of Legislator Lai Hui-yuan, Chen Yen-ju, wife of Tainan City Councilor Tsai Yu-hui, Tsai Shih-yin, Special Assistant of Tainan City Councilor Li Tsung-han, Tsai Chung-lun, Assistant of Tainan City Councilor Shen Chia-feng, and Wu Chun-yu, Assistant of Tainan City Councilor Chao Kun-yuan, attended the ceremony.

     Senior Executive Officer Huang Hung-wen of the Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government said National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall and Tainan City Government have long-term interactions and exchanges to promote art and cultural events. The hall assisted with the “Traveling Exhibition of Excellent Tainan Artists.” This time it is a great honor to have the opportunity to exhibit the national-level winning works of “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards” at Xinying Cultural Center. The young artists are the future of Taiwan. Welcome the citizens to visit the exhibition.

     Director-general Wang Lan-sheng of National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall expressed his gratitude to Cultural Affairs Bureau, Tainan City Government for providing the exhibition rooms. “Chungshan Youth Art Awards” was formerly known as “National Youth Students Painting and Calligraphy Competition,” which was the art competition organized by National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall from 1973 to 2011 as well as the pioneer of calligraphy and painting competitions. In the 38 years, the competition cultivated many famous calligraphers, painters, and art professors at home and abroad. The first stop of “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” is at Tainan Municipal Xinying Cultural Center. The exhibition will travel to Taichung City Dadun Cultural Center in April. Welcome the citizens to seize the opportunity to appreciate the works.

     The competition of “Chung-Shan Youth Art Awards” encourages the creative development of the young artists aged from 20 to 45. The competition is divided into three groups: ink painting, calligraphy, and oil painting. A total of 39 winners are selected after the preliminary and secondary reviews, including 13 of the ink painting group, 13 of the calligraphy group, and 13 of the oil painting group. The Chun-Shan Award (first place), second place, third place, honorable mention awards, and judges’ awards are selected from each group. This year, there are three winners of the Chung-Shan Award. They are Song Jin-wei of the ink painting group, Shao Fong-min of the calligraphy group, and Kao Ching-yuan of the oil painting group. Each winner will be given NT$300,000 and one trophy. The second place and third place will respectively win NT$100,000 and NT$50,000. Each group has five honorable mention award winners, and each of them is given NT$10,000. Each of the winners of the judges’ award will win NT$5,000. Culture needs new life and new blood. To encourage the young generation to engage in art creation, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall adheres to the important mission since establishment and continues to hold Chungshan Youth Art Award.

     “2022 Chungshan Youth Art Awards Traveling Exhibition” will be grandly held at the first gallery and second gallery of Tainan Municipal Xinying Cultural Center from March 3 to 19, 2023.
