March 12 is Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s death anniversary and the annual Arbor Day. National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall specially holds a series of activities featuring “Indigenous Resonance, See Love,” including: “Pay Tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen,” the sapling-giving activity “Create Green Life Together,” the book-giving activity “Embrace Books,” and the memorial concert “Indigenous Resonance, See Love.”
In memory of the 97th death anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall held the event of paying a floral tribute to Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s statue for the social public to retrospect and express their respect for Dr. Sun Yat-sen in the morning today (March 12) The sapling-giving activity “Create Green Life Together” was held on the west plaza of the hall, giving the saplings of azalea, osmanthus, and Tashiro Indian Hawthorn provided by Forestry Bureau to the citizens to beautify their homes. From 10 to 12 this morning, the book-giving activity “Embrace Books” was held at the west corridor. The research books on Sunology and artists’ great painting volumes published in the past years were given for free. There were up to 1,100 books in diverse categories, including west painting, ink painting, calligraphy, print, photography, and sculpture.
At 1:30PM, the memorial concert, “Indigenous Resonance, See Love” was held at the front hall. The vocal band, “Gentlewomen,” was specially invited to sing the popular songs such as “Balabalabala,” “Moon Lyre,” and “Rose, Rose, I Love You.” “Gentlewomen” is a female vocal band composed of four women born in the 90s featuring the traditional and innovative combination of oriental music, ballads, and folk songs. It won “The Second Place of Golden Medal” and “Best Stage Performance” at Taipei International Contemporary A Cappella Festival and the greatest award of the music category, “The Best Music of Music,” at Taipei Fringe Festival. Besides, the choir of Taoshan Elementary School, Pqwasan na Taoshan, which used to lead the singing of the national anthem at the National Day Celebration in front of the Presidential Office in 2012 and 2014 and frequently won High Distinction Awards and Excellent Awards at National Student Competition of Music and the folk song competitions, gave the splendid performance of “This Summer” and the traditional Atayal song “Wayalla” today and brought down the house.
Director-general Wang Lan-sheng said National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hal held Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s 97th Death Anniversary Series Activities today. In the morning, the hall gave the saplings to promote the love for green land. Then the book-giving activity encouraged reading. In the afternoon, the memorial concert invited the vocal band, “Gentlewomen,” and the choir of Taoshan Elementary School to sing. These were the practice of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s ideas of cultural equality and the LOHAS life. Director-general Wang also invited everyone to feel the changes of the hall together when flowers bloom in the warm spring. As the first stage of the renovation of Chungshan Park was completed, the entrance on Renai Road has been opened and become a broad landmark. The old railway has also turned into the cherry blossom avenue. The new charm of the hall in the future is highly expected. Besides, to display and preserve the citizens’ memory about the hall, National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall specially calls for the submissions of “Happy Memories with Renai Road 6,” which will be categorized into three major parts: old photos, articles, and new images.
