“Young Energy, Love Chungshan: The 155th Anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s Birthday Series Activities” Start

    It is the 155th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birthday. National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall follows the spirit of fraternity and “the world is for all people” and will hold the series activities for one month starting from today (November 7) by specially combining the elements of the young and diverse groups and cultural equality in memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s lifelong dedication, thoughts, and deeds. The series activities featuring “Young Energy, Love Chungshan” include the opening ceremony, academic conference, concert, dance performance, speech competition, exhibition, memorial ceremony, and birthday celebration. It is expected that through the series activities the spirit of fraternity will be practiced and happiness and warmth will be passed on.

    Like the past years, a series of art and cultural activities will be held before and after the anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birthday to commemorate Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s history and promote his spirit. The opening ceremony of the series activities started at 3:10PM this afternoon. First, the performance of the pop dance club of Juang Jing Vocational High School made a start. The passionate and energetic students of Department of Performing Arts showed the young students’ energy and rhythm through “T-MECK!” and “Venus.” “Farewell Chungshan Park Flowerbed Concert” was held at 4PM for the flowerbed and fountain of Chungshan Park, which have accompanied the citizens for 48 years and will be renovated together with the park at the beginning of next year. Besides restoring the architect Wang Da-hong’s design concept of the double forest boulevards and reflection pond, the entrance on Renai Road will also be opened to broaden the view and show the beautiful landscape of tall trees, green land, and yellow tiles. The pavement will also be reconstructed to provide the safe, friendly, and wheelchair accessible environment. The image of the Sanzhangli railway branch will be added with the entrance and exit on both sides of the branch so that it will be convenient for the public to join in the activities of the hall. BrassMen was invited to perform at the concert. With the belief and goal of promoting the charm of brass instruments, the young members are all experienced performers. The concert of crossover music included a series of popular Chinese and English songs: “Miss You Every Day,” “Wife,” and “You Raise Me Up,” each of which reminds the audience on the scene of their memories with National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to wave goodbye to the park landscape. The encore “My Future is Not a Dream” is an expectation for Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to store the new energy and provide the better service and brand new atmosphere with the new park landscape.

    Deputy Director-general of the hall, Yang Tong-hui, said Dr. Sun Yat-sen led the revolution and called for the youths with the lofty ideals at home and abroad to join. The series activities featuring “Young Energy, Love Chungshan” are planned to commemorate the 155th anniversary of Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s birthday, bring the young groups together, and at the same time serve as the prelude to the coming landscape renovation. Besides the activities this afternoon, “Birthday Celebration,” “‘In Memory of Dr. Sun Yat-sen: The World is for All People and The World is United’: 2020 International Academic Conference,” and “Celebration Concert-National Taiwan Symphony Orchestra” will be held on November 12. “Health Lecture-New Trend of Liver Disease Prevention” will be held on November 14. The opening ceremony of “Half a Century Memory- Chungshan Park Landscape Retrospective and Prospect Exhibition” will be held on November 18. “2020 Foreign Students Chinese Public Speaking Competition” will be held on November 24. The performing groups of the series activities include the young friends, foreign students, and Hakka groups, which stands for the Director-general’s long-term hard work in cultural equality and diverse ethnic culture. It is expected that National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall will become the happy space for all citizens in pursuing the beautiful memories.
