National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall to Launch “Guided Tours to Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s History and Cultural and Historic Buildings”

National Dr. Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall of Ministry of Culture was designed by the modernist architect, Mr. Wang Da-hong, and designated as a municipal historic building by the Department of Cultural Affairs of Taipei City Government on May 3, 2019. It is one of the most representative public buildings in Taiwan. To explore more about Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s history and the landscapes of cultural and historic buildings, the hall has planned seven routes of guided tours with professional guidebooks that feature “Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s History and Cultural and Historic Buildings” from early May to mid-August this year. The guided tours in Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Yilan, and Taitung invite the public to learn about Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s history and the history and style of Taiwanese architecture together.

Professor Shyu Ming-song of Ming Chuan University's Department of Architecture and other literary and historical workers will serve as the guides to lead the participants to directly feel the aesthetics and value of the cultural and historic buildings through onsite visits and professional introduction. These guided tours will further enhance the awareness of the protection and restoration of historic sites to ensure that the precious historic heritage can be effectively preserved and inherited.

The seven guided tours will be held from May 4 to August 17 in the five cities of Taipei, New Taipei, Taichung, Yilan, and Taitung. Each will be a half-day or one-day itinerary. Please seize the opportunity and sign up to learn about Dr. Sun Yat-sen’s history and  Taiwanese buildings and appreciate the style and humanistic spirit of Taiwanese architecture.

The first route “Historical Mark of Dadaocheng” will be held in Taipei on May 4. The participants will experience the historical atmosphere around the buildings of Dadaocheng through the in-depth guided tour. The second route “Guided Tour to the Campus of Sacred Heart High School for Girls in Bali, New Taipei City” and the third route “Guided tour to Li Family Historical House- General Lee Yo-Bang Memorial Hall” will be held respectively on May 18 and June 22. The other routes such as “Guided Tour to Sijie Presbyterian Church and Mu-Kuang Rehabilitation Center for the Blind in Yilan” and “Guided Tour to Garden City Community in Xindian” will follow.
